How To Add Vst Plugins To Cubase

We are now providing Tampura and Shruti instruments as audio plugins, for use with your sound software. The plugins have really good performances and are very useful for a live performance or a recording mix. All our plugins are working in stereo.

This video will go over how to install and use a VST instrument within Cubase. This covers specifically VST's you may find out and about freely, and will gen.

To use our tampura and shruti VST instrument plugin, you need a VST 2.4

compatible software. We have tested it successfully with Cubase SX 3.

  1. Slate plugins are installed to ' C: Program Files Vstplugins ' by default. You will need to add this path to Cubase. Click the 'Studio' drop-down menu and select 'VST Plug-in Manager'. Under the 'VST Effects' tab, click the cog wheel on the bottom left and then click '+'.
  2. Plug-in Manager Settings Opens a section at the bottom of the window in which all current paths to VST 2 plug-ins are listed. You can add or remove folder locations by using the corresponding buttons. Click Rescan All to rescan your computer for.
  3. Look for a sub-folder in the 'Program Files' folder that contains the VST instrument you want to add to Cubase. When you installed the VST instrument, the installation program told you the name of the installation folder. If you forgot that name, look for a folder with a name similar to the name of the VST instrument.

We also developed a tanpura and shruti Audio Unit Generator, and a tanpura and shruti Effect Audio Unit Effect. The difference between the two is that the generator doesn’t need any input, while the effect is adding tampura sound to an input. We advise users to use the generator if possible. We have tested them successfully with GarageBand and AU Lab and Digital Performer 5.12.

Important notes:

  1. AIFF and WAVE files are accepted by the plugins for the sound samples

  2. High quality tampura and shruti sound samples are included within the plugins (madhyam and pancham)

  3. The plugins are can run as a demo for a few minutes if you don’t own a license.

Thanks for reporting problems and compatibility issues with your software.

After I upgraded to Cubase 9 and went “totally 64bit” I had a problem with my DAW not finding the 54 Waves plugins. I also had the same problem with Maschine and Waves.

A quick search on the forums showed that this is a common issue but there is lots of disagreement about how to actually fix it.

The problem occurs because both 32bit and 64bit Waves plugins all sit in the same folder within Program Files (x86) – a location normally used for 32bit stuff!

Try as you may by pointing your DAW to the right location, both Cubase and Maschine were not having it!

I tried lots suggestions before finally discovering a post on the Steinberg Forums by user KurtOzzthat did the trick – actually instructions from Waves support:

Uninstall All Products via Waves Central:
In Waves Central go to Install->Uninstall Products (at the top).
Choose all the products click ‘Uninstall’.
Once uninstall is finished – quit Waves Central.

Uninstall Waves Central :

Uninstall Waves Central itself using Control Panel->Programs and Features

Cubase 5 Vst Plugins Download

Remove Various files:
Click on Winkey+R and enter the text %appdata% – click Enter. Delete the Waves folder inside ‘Roaming’.
Click on Winkey+R and enter the text %programdata% – click Enter. Delete the ‘Waves Audio’ folder.
Conduct a file search on your system for the term :”WaveShell” and delete any “WaveShell” file that you find.

Re-Install:

Download and install the latest Waves Central for Windows
Run Waves Central application and log-in.
Click on Install at the top tab, then select Install
Click Online (on left pane)
Select all your products (in the middle pane)
Click Install on (the bottom right)

Many thanks to Kurt – that really did the trick for me, hopefully it will help others too.
